The Starwood Preferred Guest program is one of our favorites. Like other programs, you can earn free nights and upgrades, but their miles + points deals make this one stand out. You can stay at a 5 star hotel for $90 a night + a few thousand points.
And if you don’t have a Starwood American Express card, get one now. You can earn up to 25,000 additional Starwood points in the first year (10,000 free points on your first purchase; another 15,000 free when you make up to $15,000 of purchases). It’s not as prestigious as flashing your Black Amex but conspicuous consumption is so 2006 anyway. Your Centurion or Platinum Amex card though will get you free gold status on the Starwood Preferred Guest Program, so be sure to get that sorted out.
